Vu and Hugh
Topic: Friends, Life, Work|I met up with a very old friend of mine, Vu Bui who I haven’t seen in about 4 years. He asked me, “So no more APM’s?” I had to explain to him how it has been more of a posting malaise, since I have been keeping active these last few months, just not writing or documenting much (any). I’ve also had a few things that I’ve wanted to write about but I’ve just been reluctant to.

I’ve heard it said that all that is required for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. If there’s a need and you have the capacity to fill the need and do nothing, you bear the responsibility for that failure.

I respect Hugh’s spirit of adventure and hope to be half that spry when I reach his age. Thank you Vu for forcing me to write again. It feels good, though I may take this down if I even put it up.
I’m glad I got to read it before it’s taken down, man. I have no idea what that feeling could be like… but it seems pretty wretched.
It was good to see you and the fam… and to find out you’re not quite as far as I had thought.
It was really nice to see you too, Jacob really enjoyed the rockets, so thank you for that! He asked if you live at Disneyland. I told him no, but you live close to it. He seemed to like that concept.
I’m glad I got to read it, too, and have the blanks filled in a bit about this ridiculously ridiculous mauron decision. I can’t blame you for wanting to bail for goofy red helmets. Good luck next week! Checking out that mine and others sounds interesting, especially if history can be garnered prior to exploration. What about the Black/Alamo/other mountains i don’t recall the names of traverse, etc?
Josh,
Really enjoyed stumbling into your site. Especially got a kick out of Deleon’s response to you about his Taco stand. Tell him not to be so damn sensitive, there’s nothing to be ashamed of, Taco stands are the she-ite. I noted a bunch of jarhead names that I’ve not heard in a long time. Please tell them hello and I hope they’re all doing well (Jolin ended up in jail? really?). I run around with Sean Gray out here in San Antonio where Im still driving on in the Corps. Sean runs a hunting ranch/exotic game breeding facility 30 minutes north of where me & my family live. Good to see your doing well - Semper Fi.

(Dowd - 1st CM)
Holy Crap, Lance Dowd. It is great to hear from you! I’ve been able to track you a bit from some newspaper articles. Congratulations on all your well earned success. Honestly, I use things I learned from your leadership in almost every day of my life.
Jolin, yeah. I’ll pass on the word to all the other kids. Deleon and I talk about you to this day. Him, English and Canfield are the ones I keep in touch with the most. Engie, Canfield and Debler all live up in Oregon doing various Oregonian things. Deleon lives down near the border in El Centro selling tacos and chicle from the back of his van.
This message goes to the shower shoe JD and Lance Dowd…Tacos suck…and besides, it is a cover for my black opsssss….but cant talk about it.
For all of your information, I work for the best company in the world, Coca-Cola!!! There it is, what now???
But it is good to finally talk to you JD, I am still writting a bit and it is very good to hear that Lance is still out there making a name in our beloved Corps…good to hear from you Lance…Chuuu (I think that was the expression you 1CM Fags used) But before I sign off, I would like to leave you both with a quote from a great man… “HOOAH!” from Lcpl. Freeman (Freedog)

Hey JD…one more comment…
I am stuck in an office for 60 plus hours a week, I make a pretty good living, even in Calis standards, and my only joy during the week is getting out with my sales team and touring stores…But for what it is worth, I really really am envious of your job. You are living it outside brother.
If only I would have had the balls to go after that shit at a younger age man….So much time wasted for me, I miss it so much….It is not what I did accomplish in the Corps, or even now, it is the empty-ness that I have now!!!! Shit, one day I will take you up on your offer on one of your hiking trips if you dont mind…
Signing off!
Well D, just remember that if you did open a taco stand you could work outside.
Ps. August 09. 1 Week in the Sierra Nevada, get ready because it’s on.
Wow! Hugh Blanchard…there is much more to this story and one of my very sad and frustrating experiences in all of my years in this biz!
