Mt. San Antonio
Topic: Adventure, Dayhike, Peakbagging|Nothing special.
The usual three of us had planned to climb San Jacinto today. After Gant’s usual 1.5 hours of delays leaving his abode on the beach and meeting us in Santa Clarita and me and J$$ wanting to eat some grub we were waaaayyy late. I don’t remember the specifics, but we were running so late that while enroute to San Jacinto we decided that Mt. Baldy would be a better option.
After deciding between the multitude of options to get to the peak, we decided on what is called the Baldy Bowl. After Gant took a midday nap after his usual two to four hours of sleep the night before we were on the trail and about four hours later we were on the peak (DG, JG, JM). Then we took the old devils backbone down. It was a hot and sweaty trip up, but once on the peak we must have hit an inversion layer, because it got cold quick. We tried to race the sun back to the truck, but we lost.
Very cool looking area, but I’d rather be back in the Sierra, or at least within view of it.
