With the recent massive fires in southern California there were ample opportunities to take some interesting pics, most of which I missed.  I like this one, though I wish there was more detail in the foreground (Bottom half of the picture).

A night shot on Santiago road that I took with Vu.  I like it, it's not all that interesting, but I like it.  If the trees could have picked up a little more light from the passing headlights that would have been nice.

This one could have been good, it's just bland as it is.  The picture looks hazy looking out towards the ridge and the dead tree in the foreground has no definition at all.  I don't know how to solve either problem.

All my pics seem to come out looking like this, very hazy - it pisses me off.

Here is a shot of the pier at O'neill lake on Camp Pendelton.  The clouds were nice and fluffy, but I think I overexposed the shot.  It would have been nice to see more colors in the water and a bit less eye burning white from the pier and clouds.

Another shot of the lake on Pendelton.  This one came out OK, if I had found a better spot to get some more colors out of the foreground flowers I think it would have worked well.

Here is your tax money at work, one of the many, many dilapidated buildings onboard Campen.  I like this picture though, it's exactly what I remember the base to be, which doesn't make it a good picture, because anyone without my frame of reference won't have the same attachment to what is pictured here.

What do you think?

This one might or might not be interesting.  The clouds were moving too fast for my slow shutter so it looks blurry.  It might be a cool effect if I can figure a way to make it look good somehow.  This was taken just after the eclipse of the moon.

An open gate in the old ranch section of Henry Coe State Park.  This one came out allright, it's very vibrantly green up there despite the fact that they've had almost no rains since last winter.

A couple of Smirnoff bottles that were rescued from the fire by some nice cold water.  After pouring the water on them the spidervein cracks they exhibited were entrancing.  Maybe it was just the fact that I hadn't slept in over a day at this point though.

A manzanita bush, though at HWC bush is something of a misnomer as the manzanitas grow as large as trees.  Matter of fact the largest manzanita on record is out there, I think it's along the flat frog trail
Night sky shot of South Orange County.  A bit too bright though.
Sunrise at Sierra point at Coe.  Despite the fact that the Sierra's are over a hundred miles away, their sheer size allows you to see them on a clear day from this point.  Amazing.
Note all the acorns on the tree, this has long been a stashing ground for the local woodpecker population.
